Six years ago, an unimaginable horror known as Tirek came to Equestria. His power was nigh impossible, requiring the Elements, the Lovers and the Alicorns all to pour their very souls into holding him. In their absence, Prince Blueblood took the crown. But, Blueblood's reign is simply a mask for the Guard's dictatorship, while rebels cling to the idea of a free republic and strange cults tout the value of freedom from any governance. With all this, why would anypony spare a thought for the comet that filled the night sky for weeks before falling?

It was just about noon in the center of Canterlot as ponies gathered around to look as a pony stood up infront of the masses. Solar was present, listening as the mare speaking went on her own tirade. 'Our country, all of Equestria, is not just a playground for Blueblood! And General Sky Scummer has done nothing but take prisoners and claim they are doing a good job!' the mare called out as the ponies, mostly a batch of downtrodden commoners, stared up in interest.
'Our so-called rulers have no idea what the ponies of Equestria desire, they have no clue how to run this country for Equestrians!' the mare continued, which prompted Solar to start pushing his way through the crowd to get a better look. He knew what this mare's plan was, to rally up ponies for the rebellion. While he sympathized with their plight, they were only going to cause more pain not only to themselves, but to innocent ponies as-well. He wanted to nip this in the bud- he could not allow a fight to start because of this.
'Think about it! A land where the government serves the public, not the other way around! You aren't the only ones suffering, ponies all over Equestria want to bring the land to such a state- a representative government!' the rebel mare continued. However, she then noticed as the golden pegasus was getting closer and smiled brightly.
'AH! We have a pony who wishes to speak up, perhaps you have some story of how you've suffered at the hooves of this excuse of a government?' the mare asked as Solar climbed up onto the platform. For the first time, he did not have an amused expression on his face as he looked at her.
"I actually came to tell these ponies that you are spewing nonsense." he stated bluntly, and the mare gave him a rather serious look. "I understand where you are coming from. I do not blame you for wanting to create such a land, but as things are now, it is not the right thing!" he added, much to the chagrin of some of the mare's supporters.
"I remember you! You're that new patsy, right? I bet you want Blueblood and Sky Skimmer to come here right now and haul all of us to some dungeon!" a pony called out, and Solar looked aside, finally letting his anger go out.
"I don't want that!" he shouted, before looking back at the rebel mare. "I don't like the state of things anymore than you do." he added, having taken a deep breath to calm down.
'Then why won't you agree with us? Liberating Equestria is the only solution to this problem!' the mare questioned, and Solar sighed.
"Because all it will do is bring about more bloodshed, more pain, more suffering." he started, looking at the group of ponies. "We are all daughters and sons of Equestria, we all share the same pain! We all want an escape from it, but to start a war is not going to help! This is not like when Tirek nearly took over, when our princesses and the Elements gave themselves up to save us. You wish to fight a red verses blue battle- a pointless fight that will only serve to hurt everypony!"
'Then what, you expect us to just allow this tyranny to continue?' the rebel spokesmare asked, and the pegasus shook his head.
"I do not want that either...." he started again before taking a breath. "My dream for Equestria is neither yours nor theirs...My dream is to bring Equestria back to how it was before, to restore our land to how Princess Celestia and Princess Luna had it!" he started, the sheer audacity behind it stunning them for a moment.
"I may be young, I may not have all the experience in the world, but I believe we can work to recreate the Land of Equestria, a land of kindness, where ponies will not have to fight one another to survive, a land where we can all revel in each-other's laughter, where our generosity is able to assist the less fortunate, a land where honesty keeps us in the light, where our loyalty to each-other will allow us to persevere. That is the magic that I wish to restore to this once beautiful land!" He stated his dream of Equestria to the mass of ponies. While it was naive to think of such things, his speech was filled with such confidence, such enthusiasm that it the ponies, one by one, could not help but applaud him while the rebel mare shrunk a little before slinking away.
He did not expect that the ponies would like his speech, he honestly believed they would ridicule him, but at the same time, he was proud that he had been able to bring hope to these ponies.
The previous night's encounter still haunting him, Solar Chaser had taken the liberty of wandering through Canterlot. With a more official looking outfit, his cutiemark concealing leotard in place, the colt was more discernable amongst the crowd as being associated with the guard. While he was little more than a ward, he was still in their custody- so he wore what they told him to. He did not have any reason to argue- they provided a home for him, and although he missed the satisfaction of farming, he did have a relatively easier life. He was also smarter than he used to be, having learned from his professor, and having done some research on his own.
A burning desire still smoldered in his heart, the desire to cure Equestria of what ails it. They had an idiot for a 'king', even though Blueblood was still technically a prince. Sky Skimmer's policies, while somewhat harsh, were not ill-intended. Solar knew the general didn't want to destroy Equestria, nor did he want to hurt the ponies. He wanted to keep order, to keep stability in these tough times.
Thud!- a young filly had collided with Solar, an icecream cone held by magic, the unicorn filly having accidentally hit the pegasus with the two scoops, which had stained his shirt and were now on the ground. Staring up, almost horrified at the sight of the pegasus, the unicorn filly whimpered slightly- her mother stunned with fear. Solar raised an eyebrow, kneeling down as he allowed a friendly smirk to spread on his face.
"I'm sorry, my mean old shirt just ate your ice cream." he started, surprising the filly and the mother for a moment before he reached into his pocket, taking out a hoof-full of bits, part of the allowance he had been given for the day. "Go ahead and buy yourself three scoops." he finished, giving the filly the money, who smiled with glee before skipping off to his mother.
'Thank you, mister~' the filly thanked the pegasus, and the mother smiled in relief, nodding. 'Thank you.' the mother repeated as Solar stood up with a nod and a smile in a way saying 'no problem' and continued on his way, noting the somewhat surprised looks he got from the surrounding civilians as he went by. He didn't have a particular destination in mind, so he continued making turns to continue his aimless venture.
It was a long day as Solar had just finished the day, having worked himself to exhaustion during the self-defense training. At the very least, he could just go back to his quarters and sleep for the rest of the night. He learned a lot from Icefox in a short time- and even began to understand the state of things. He was able to sympathize with the rebels- they had every right to feel that Blueblood was no king- no suitable ruler would make the ponies suffer so. What he did not agree on, however, was their belief that the monarchy itself was what had to be removed. For countless millennia- Celestia and Luna have proven more than perfect, nopony could have complained or suffered under their rule.
It wasn't the system that was wrong- it was the pony who ran it. The anarchists, on the other hoof, were the real enemies. The Yellow Horseshoes were a small bunch, but they were proof that there were enemies that took priority. He let out a soft yawn as he entered the room, seeing Soft Fluff, who was cleaning up the room.
"Oh, back so soon, Master?" she asked, a little surprised as the colt smiled softly. "Soon? It's almost midnight." he asked with a weak chuckle, nuzzling the maid-mare. "You may go now." he said, his words being a way of saying 'get out' in a way Blueblood would most likely say- but his eyes betrayed his kind intentions, and the mare accepted it as a "Good Night, Soft Fluff.".
"Good night, sir." she bid the colt farewell, leaving the room as Solar climbed onto his bed, closing his eyes and blowing out the candle before drifting off into sleep, unaware of what was going to happen.
This is a thread meant to hold auditions for Queen Chrysalis, a character who will be needed later on in the story of Wars of Equestria.
Here is my audition, I hope I am able to do her justice- this is the first canon I have ever tried to play in RP history.
To give this situation context: This is a hypothetical scenario I had imagined for Chrysalis, under the pretense there’d be some sort of negotiations for some sort of secret, presumably about the meteor, between the traditionalists and the changelings. Keep in mind I only have a basic understanding of Queen Chrysalis and have no experience with canon characters, so this is more of a practice shot than anything else. Even though Chrysalis has her own agenda, she is meant to be playing this particularly professionally- if nothing more than to show she can be serious. By this time aswell, to give more context, Solar Chaser has learned a lot about politics, history, and the like to allow himself to make more educated decisions.
~It was infuriating for the Queen of the Changelings as Chrysalis had to wait for the hate-filled ponies to finally decide who would spare some of their so-called precious time to negotiate with her. She remembered back when she invaded Canterlot with her subjects, Equestria was filled with so much love that even an invasion was a banquet- but not today. Everypony was filled with hate, fear. Equestria had ruined itself since the Elements left, since The Royal Sisters left, since The Lovers left. Chrysalis, although she still had desires to use the country to feed her subjects, actually missed the peace-times. “Will you please hurry up! I can’t stand to wait through all of this hate!” she complained, throwing in a rhyme.
“Please, let cooler heads prevail- as ironic as that is....Let me take a shot at this.” a young voice stated as the ponies in the other room fell silent for a bit, as if in compliance. Chrysalis looked as the door opened and three ponies were in view. One was General Sky Skimmer, the second being a rougher looking guard, but the third one caught her interest as a yellow colt walked in. She could feel fear in his heart- but it wasn’t the kind of fear the Equestrians of today had felt under this civil war- it was fear of messing up- fear that only came when a pony really wanted to do the right thing.
“You are Queen Chrysalis, I take it?” the colt asked, bowing politely as the door closed behind him- leaving the two alone. “I am Solar Chaser, it is a pleasure to meet you.” he greeted the queen with a smile- catching her off guard with a taste she had not had in a long time. Chrysalis stared through her blue-green eyes at the sun-yellow colt. She couldn’t help but take a deep breath, a satisfied smile on her face as she savored the love that was radiating off of the colt. It was exquisite! She hadn’t had an Equestrian’s love in so long- it made it all the sweeter! “Ohh~ It’s a pleasure to meet you aswell, sweetie~.” she replied, enjoying every moment of feeding off of the colt. However, she did notice that he was rather confused and she stopped for a moment, although she really did not want to- this was the only pony willing to negotiate after all, it wouldn’t do for her to simply drain him on the spot.
“Oh! I apologize, I just haven’t tasted an Equestrian pony’s love for so long...Have you been saving up?” she asked a joking question as Solar rubbed his head a little, feeling odd from being fed off from. “It’s no problem...In fact, if you like- you can taste some more.” he stated, perhaps being the first one to surprise the queen. Her astonished look shortly changed to a smile. “I was right, you are different...Tell me, Solar. What is your dream for Equestria?” she asked, taking small, slow tastes of the colt’s love, hoping to figure out what kind of love it was.
“My dream? An odd question, Your Highness...but I will be honest....I wish to restore Equestria to the way it was before Their Majesties left us. The civil war that you have no doubt been witnessing...it’s all pointless. It’s not a matter of Good or Evil, Black or White. This is a Red vs Blue battle- neither the revolutionaries nor the guard recognize the fact that we are all Equestrians. Both sides have friends, family, lovers- both sides have been losing loved ones, and for what?! This pointless debate on how Equestria should be run?” he asked, his emotions flaring as Chrysalis listened- figuring out why the pony was able to satisfy her hunger. It wasn’t romantic love, it was love for Equestria, love for one’s country.
“Everything was perfect before Celestia, Luna, The Elements, Cadence and Shining left. I know I can’t live up to their example- but I can still hope, I can still strive to bring Equestria back to the land it once was: A land of love and harmony. That is my dream for Equestria!” he stated with a smile, and the queen stared, a smile spreading on her face. This was no facade, the golden colt did not have a silver tongue. These words were genuine, he truly believed in his dream. The love she had been consuming was enough to tell Chrysalis this. And she knew that this colt had to bring his dream into reality- not just for Equestria’s sake, but for her kingdom’s sake. She had the information the traditionalists needed to unlock the secrets of the collected meteor shards, but she would not help them with their ambition for power. She would help Solar Chaser, the pony who would use the knowledge to restore the Land of Equestria.
“Alright, now that I’ve gotten my fill...” the Queen of the Changelings started, leaning forward with a smirk. “Let’s talk.” she finished.
