Six years ago, an unimaginable horror known as Tirek came to Equestria. His power was nigh impossible, requiring the Elements, the Lovers and the Alicorns all to pour their very souls into holding him. In their absence, Prince Blueblood took the crown. But, Blueblood's reign is simply a mask for the Guard's dictatorship, while rebels cling to the idea of a free republic and strange cults tout the value of freedom from any governance. With all this, why would anypony spare a thought for the comet that filled the night sky for weeks before falling?

<To go down in history as one of the most legendary pirates> <To steal the most valuable spice in the world from Balthasar once he finds it> <...To finally retire from piracy and have foals with Balthasar someday?>
<Getting captured by the Guard and thrown in the dungeon to rot> <Balthasar losing interest in her (He won't)>
<Has a small galley, similar to Balthasar's, known as the Whelp-Kicker >
<The daughter of Lord and Lady Mundane of Trottingham, Jane was exposed to court life at a young age. However, she wasn't a big fan of fanciness, and instead hung around more with her merchant grandfather, a member of Balthasar's stepfather's crew. She met Balthasar as a young filly, and the two of them played together as kids. When her grandpa retired and went back home, she and Balthasar made a promise that they would get married. >
<This was when Jane got into a bit of minor piracy, as in maybe stealing something once in a great while, and by then, had earned her cutie mark. She was not very well-known at this time, and she took a break from pirating for a while when she just so happened to run into her old childhood friend Balthasar! The two of them dated for around two years before finally getting married.>
<The day after her marriage to Balthasar, Jane ran off and resumed her piracy. Her first target? A large shipment of spices Balthasar was transporting over to Manehattan. She became more and more famous as a pirate as the years passed, and she's kind of the reason why Balthasar's so scared of pirates. Despite the couple having very conflicting jobs and sometimes being unable to see each other for weeks at a time, they remain rather shockingly close. They still find time for one another, even though his job as a merchant and her job as a pirate leave the both of their schedules packed.>

<A pure, dazzling milky white.>
<A beautiful gold, such as that of my crown.>
<This is a waste of the King's time. It is the same as my mane.>
<Brilliant pools of sky blue.>
<An eight-pointed star. It is a symbol of how truly noble and kingly I am.>
<Gourmet chocolates from Prance. The King's palette will not be contaminated with the food of commoners.> <Looking upon my perfect image in the mirror.> <Sitting on my divan while my servants do my work. I do not wish to get my perfect, kingly hooves dirty.> <The smell of a rose.>
<I loathe the common folk, their rustic accents, and their hideous slop they call food.> <I hate needy ponies. "Blueblood, would you please help me with such and such?" I'm a King, not a blasted miracle worker.> <Sometimes the guards just won't do what I tell them to. They should know that the King knows best.> <I heard that there's rebels or something? The common rabble should just stay home and tend to their farms or be housewives instead of trying to get into politics!>
<To be the best king Equestria ever had. Ahahaha! Looks like I've already achieved that goal! I'm Blueblood!> <To open up my own theme park where ponies can gaze upon my perfection.>
<Commoners touching and soiling my precious robes or my beautiful white coat! Or what if they make my mane all greasy and unkempt?> <Losing my crown! Nopony is fit to wear it unless they are Blueblood!> <Large dogs. What if they jump on me and get their muddy paws on me?> <Common carnival fare!>
<I'm fabulous, you're not. What else is there to say? >
<I was born to a noble couple in Canterlot's court. I have lived there since birth, and I do not plan on ever leaving the place unless I absolutely have to. I got my cutie mark when I was just a colt! I got it when I most politely and respectfully expected Princess Celestia to hold a door open for me. She did. I learned that my special talent just had to be being a royal! >
<I sat on my divan and began having ponies do my common work for me. Why should a noble ever have to do something when there's servants who will do it without question? I also met that foul Rarity at the Grand Galloping Gala. Needy bitch expected me to be her 'Prince Charming' or some fairytale nonsense like that. >
<Now, after my beloved aunties were killed protecting the world from Tirek, I am the king! General Sky Skimmer is the best advisor a king could ask for! While I get to relax, he kindly and generously does the hard work that a stallion as perfect as I should avoid doing. Don't want to lose any perfection.>
A small black carriage rode across the desert, pulled by several guards. These guards did not wear the armor of the run-of the mill guards; they dressed a little more like this.
Balthasar sat within the carriage, bored out of his mind. All he had seen today was sand and a few interesting rock formations, but that was about it. This was the middle of nowhere. Absolutely nopony lived here...
...At least that's what Balthasar thought. Through the window of the carriage, Balthasar could see a farm. A farm? In the desert? Maybe it was a mirage. But he couldn't be sure. Suddenly, one of the wheels of the carriage broke as it fell into a pothole on the trail.
Balthasar opened up the carriage and stepped out. The farm was, in fact, real. It didn't disappear when he walked closer to it. Balthasar smiled, as he knew how lucky he was to have broken his carriage right in front of an actual pony's house. and approached the barn door, which he knocked on. He needed help with his carriage, and hopefully the farmer would be able to fix it. He hoped the pony who lived here wasn't hostile; if the owner of this house was a rebel, he'd be ruined.
Balthasar's ship laid down its anchors at the port city of Manehattan, as he would be hanging around here for a couple of days. There was always so much to see here, and there were always new things he noticed every time he came to Manehattan. A new tavern to frequent, some cool old guy on the streets who told fantastic stories, maybe even something small, like a tiny gold bit somepony dropped on the ground.
But Manehattan, despite being such an interesting city, was also incredibly dangerous. The place was just crawling with thieves, cheats, possibly rebels, and other ponies who very well could have wished to do him harm. Balthasar was always on guard when he came to Manehattan.
He adjusted his collar and walked down the busy streets. Who knew what he would find here? So long as he could find himself a glass of wine and a few ponies to annoy, gamble with, tell stories, or sing songs to, he would be having an excellent time in the city.
